This week, the Audio Design Desk ReDesign challenge features Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Are YOU up to the challenge?
ReDesign: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Starring Michael Cera, Scott Pilgrim is a 22-year-old bass guitarist living a mediocre life in Toronto. He fills his life with his unsuccessful, up-and-coming band, a competition for a record deal, and 17-year-old girlfriend. He immediately loses interest in his girlfriend when the mysterious, pink-haired Ramona Flowers enters his life. Utterly lovestruck by Ramona, Scott will go at any means to pursue dating her. He is in too deep when he realizes he must battle her seven evil exes to win her heart.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World dazzled audiences and critics alike during its release in 2010. Directed and co-written by Edgar Wright, the film is highly praised for it flashing visuals. The movie is inspired by the graphic novel series written by Bryan Lee O’Malley, and the setting and style of the visuals follow comic book and video game imagery. The film did not meet box office expectations, however, Scott Pilgrim became a cult-classic. Later, it was shortlisted for Best Visual Effects in the 83rd Academy Awards. With sound design that matches the energy and excitement of the graphics, this week’s ReDesign will prove to be an exciting challenge for everyone.
