Snap Cut is a powerful tool in Audio Design Desk (ADD) that revolutionizes music editing. By automatically detecting the BPM (Beats Per Minute) of imported music files and overlaying a quantized grid, Snap Cut enables precise and effortless music editing for video editors.
Accessing Snap Cut
There are three ways to activate the Snap Cut feature:
- Menu Selection: Navigate to Timeline > Tool Selection > Snap Cut
- Hotkey: Press Option + C
- Toolbar: Click the Snap Cut icon in the upper left corner of the audio timeline
Using Snap Cut
- Press Option + C to engage Snap Cut
- Navigate to the desired cut location (approximate positioning is sufficient)
- Cut the region using Snap Cut
- For further refinement:
- Navigate to the region edge
- Use handlebars to trim or expand (snaps to beat automatically)
- Press A to switch to the arrow tool
- Move regions together using the magnetic snap.

- Use Snap Cut early in your editing process to quickly rough out music edits
